All That Jazz

acrylics & charcoal on paper
by Pantelis Melissinos

All That Jazz by Pantelis Melissinos is a lyrical mixed media work that explores the tension between freedom and rootedness.

A potted plant and a grounded palm tree become symbolic opposites — one contained, the other firmly connected to the earth. Against the intense red background, the forms gain emotional urgency, suggesting life, pressure, resilience, and inner rhythm.

Expressive charcoal lines animate the composition, giving the plants a sense of movement and presence. The contrast between containment and stability opens a meditation on life’s dualities: independence and connection, fragility and strength, freedom and belonging.

Through colour, line, and symbolic simplicity, Melissinos transforms an everyday image into a poetic reflection on balance, survival, and the jazz-like improvisation of existence.
